Underwater clean-up at Blue Lagoon

Around 40 car and truck tyres and some 150 glass bottles were collected from the sea-bed at Blue Lagoon by the Emergency Response and Rescue Corps (ERRC) as part of their work related to the Green Wave project. Nine volunteers were engaged in this underwater clean-up initiative. This project is one of two projects by ERRC that were approved under the eco-Gozo scheme for Non Governmental Organisations. These two projects together have been granted a total of € 50,000 and include initiatives related to the promotion and protection of the maritime environment, directly addressing a number of measures proposed in the eco-Gozo action plan 2010 – 2012.
