Training courses for operators in the agri-food industry in Gozo

An intensive course on good agricultural practices and European standards and regulations related to the production of food derived from agricultural products will be held in Gozo during September and October. This will be of interest to all those producing agricultural products which are subsequently used for the production of wine and other food products and for all those operators involved in the processing of various products in the agri food industry. This training course will be held on the initiative of the Maltese Islands Agri Federation (MIAF), a Non Governmental Organisation operating in Gozo for the benefit of the agricultural sector. These courses are being financed by the Ministry for Gozo through the eco-Gozo scheme for NGOs.

Five Italian experts will be leading more than ten sessions in which they will give information on good agricultural practices, basic principles related to hygiene in the production and processing of food and on international standards which require traceability in order to guarantee quality, genuinity and security in processed products. Sessions will be held between the 9th September and 16th October.

Minister Giovanna Debono explained how the objectives of this initiative are dovetail with the objectives of the eco-Gozo action plan.
