First eco-certified hotel in Gozo
Earlier this week, the Kempinski Hotel San Lawrenz became the first eco-certified hotel in Gozo. Eco-certification is a voluntary scheme run by the Malta Tourism Authority. Hotels awarded this scheme comply with a detailed set of criteria that are designed to improve on their environmental performance, such as environmental and waste management, procurement of energy and water, air quality, noise, building and green areas, local culture and information dissemination.
The Kempinski has been concentrating on the marketing of the island’s ecological aspects, such as offering country wlaks and rides, and experiences at local farms where guests are encouraged to partake in the daily routines, showcasing agro-tourism, and introducing vacation concepts such as painting holidays on the islands.
This result is definitely another step towards the achievement of the ideals set by the Eco-Gozo vision.
