The DVD A Tale of Two Towers launched

A Tale of Two Towers is a DVD launched by the Minister for Gozo, the Hon Giovanna Debono.  This DVD which narrates the story of the Towers in Comino and Dwejra was produced by Din l-Art Ħelwa, and financed  by the Ministry for Gozo as part of the eco-Gozo scheme for projects by NGOs.

The Hon. Giovanna Debono expressed her satisfaction for this initiative by Din l-Art Ħelwa.“Through this informative and educational tool the unique history of these two important towers in Gozo and Comino is being presented to all those keen on the historical sites in Gozo,” said Minister Debono  She stated that A Tale of Two Towers is another opportunity in promoting the historical sites of our island with tourists.  The Minister recognised all the restoration work being done on these two towersand thanked NGOs for their work and dedication in the preservation and promotion of Gozo’s historical sites while making them more accessible to the public.

A Tale of Two Towers includes information on the need and importance of these two towers and the problems related to the construction and financing of such national treasures. It also  re enacts the personalities involved in the original design and maintenance and those responsible for the towers’ preservation.  In this 26 minute production , Albert Gauci and Terry Shaw are seen as Giovanni Rinnaldini, military engineer and Grandmaster Alof de Wignacourt respectively who provide the narration on the St Mary Tower in Comino.  On the other hand, Paul Barnes as Grandmaster Juan de Lascaris-Casteller talked about the Dwejra Tower in Gozo.

The DVD can be purchased at the offices of Din l-Art Helwain Triq Melita, Valletta and other outlets for €10 each copy.  Funds raised from the sales of DVDs will be used for the maintenance of these sites and others in Malta and Gozo which fall under the responsibility of Din l-Art Ħelwa.
