Kikku starts visiting Gozitan schools
Kikku, the eco-Gozo mascot launched by the Ministry for Gozo, is visiting Gozitan Primary schools. These visits are meant to introduce Kikku to all students who attend all primary schools in Gozo.
Earlier in January, Kikku, was presented in an activity organised in Victoria where some 500 students, representing all Gozitan children, attended. During this activity, students welcomed Kikku with enthusiasm waving coloured flags with educational messages related to the eco-Gozo vision. The activity also included the inauguration of an exhibition which was based on children’s writings and drawings gathered during the Public Consultation phase on eco-Gozo. These were reproduced in a creative way and were complemented with natural scenes, resulting in an innovative setting for this historic hall.
Kikku is another initiative related to the eco-Gozo action plan with regards the educational sector. Other recent initiatives included the launch of a resource-pack for teachers covering themes related to sustainable development. These resources are designed to help students understand better topics related to environment and sustainable development. For the second consecutive year, calendars featuring educational messages were also distributed.
In the coming weeks, Kikku is expected to visit Malta to meet Maltese students.
