Restoration of valley through rubble wall building and cleaning of seasonal water course at Triq Wied Bingemma

Through this project 1700sq metres of rubble walls will be restored or rebuilt. This will help to counter soil erosion through which soil is washed away with rain, clogging the seasonal watercourse in the vicinity, thus affecting biodiversity in the area.  The cleaning of the watercourse from silt and dumped material will re-establish the natural environment within the area. The cleaning of this valley meant that less silt, soil and rainwater will flow downstream leading to a reduction in the clogging of San Blas Valley that leads to San Blas Bay.

This project was eligible for 95% of its funding through the eco-Gozo scheme for Local Councils.
